I'm going to Cub Scout Resident Camp next week with Thing #2. We go to Camp Lassen, and this will be my fifth year there (who knows how many years the pack has been going, long before my time). The dining hall is lined nearly wall-to-wall with plaques from Packs and Troops that have visited…
We had a Webelos den meeting, starting on the Athlete pin. They had fun, which is the key. I did some of the exercises with the scouts. I can do more pull-ups (barely). Incredibly, Thing 2 kept up with me in the 400 yd run.
There's three kids running around our house. Two boys, let's call them Thing 1 and Thing 2 (not very original, I know...), and a girl, she'll have to be Thing 3. Now all three of the Things are scouts. We have a Boy Scout (1st Class), a Webelos, and a Daisy.
That's my favorite phrase. The go-to statement when getting new volunteers. And it's probably true for some. But Scouting can be addictive, there's so much out there to do and learn. So my favorite line can be taken from the title of this blog (http://houraweek.wordpress.com/): "An hour a week...left after scouting".
Throwback from this past May when the Bear den was awarded the Bear rank. Face paint is always a hit.
Thursday I had the opportunity to serve as the adult advisor to some Arrowmen who went up to Cub Scout Day Camp and put on the campfire program. They did skits and songs and the closing flag ceremony. Very proud of the two scouts from my troop who showed up to help.
So I've thought about a blog for a long time. Either as a representative of my pack, or now of the troop I'm in. Or even for my daughters Daises. I've dabbled with twitter, but never kept at it posting.
