This worksheet is just a simple grid with a row for each meals. The basic food groups make each column. This makes it easy for the Wolves to see if they are really including items from three different food groups in their meals.
If you don't have a background in science, helping your Cub Scout out with this might seem a little intimidating. But the scientific method is really very basic and only involves a few simple concepts.
Here's another recipe for those who are looking for some variety when making foil packets. Pizza flavors come through in these beef and potato based hobo meals.
Sweet 16 of BSA Safety | Equipment Selection and Maintenance
I don't think anyone in our troop has come close to doing this much hiking, but we do have a group currently training for Philmont, so maybe they will make these goals.
A few years back we had a Cubmaster who really enjoyed audience participation segments. The cornier the better! This is a classic along those lines. This would also work to help demonstrate the importance of clear communication when giving instructions.
BSA Tiger Den Meeting 1 – Bobcat and Making My Family Special
For the most part, I like the new BSA Program helps. Sometimes the helps are a little light on specifics or you have to hunt around in another publication or online for some additional resources. So I've included some additional information I think would be helpful.
We are coming up on some prime hiking season. In the spring the temperatures are mild and it isn't buggy yet. So I am reviewing my favorite hiking book - 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles. Hopefully there is one available in your area.
This is a crossword puzzle I made for a gathering activity for a den meeting. It's purpose is just to familiarize the Cub Scout with the 12 core values
We didn't expect a tremendous turnout for January tent camping, but only 3 youth (2 of them my sons) and my husband signed up. So it had to be cancelled.
The core value for January for Cub Scouts is positive attitude. This Cubmaster minute uses a story about Gandhi to demonstrate what positive attitude means. You could even have a few den chiefs act this out while you tell the story.
The idea is to make a den time capsule which they add to from time to time – maybe every year at Blue and Gold time and after summer camp or when they earn their rank or do something special. Then, when they cross over to Boy Scouts, they open the time capsule and see all…
Wolf Den Meeting Plan for Achievement 4 – Know Your Home and Community

Association with adults is one of the methods used in both Boy Scouts and Venturing. While these programs are youth-led, there are still adults present to mentor and help the youth leaders.
If you have a pet, have your Cub Scout check out the Pet Care Belt Loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program. He will have to take care of the pet for two weeks (a positive from any parent's point of view) and learn about his pet.
Our Pinewood Derby is next weekend and my den are putting the finishing touches on their cars (hopefully). I've told them they can count their cars as a Craftsman project if they did a significant amount of work on the cars themselves.
The three aims of Scouting are Character Development, Citizenship Training, and Mental and Physical Fitness. So how is citizenship incorporated into the Scouting programs offered by BSA?

Our Crew has been trying to recruit lately. The problem they are having is they talk to Bob and he isn't sure he wants to go unless Tim and Amy are going. They talk to Tim and Amy and they are wondering who else will be there. And on and on...
This looks like an interesting badge which they could work on together, but without a counselor in the troop to give them a little nudge, I could picture this dragging on for months. I'll go ahead and pass the requirements on to the PLC in case they are interested in pursuing it though.
Bowling is a great winter activity for those days off. So when you head to the bowling alley with your family or den, don't forget to complete the requirements for the Bowling belt loop from the Cub Scout Academics and Sports program.
This book was recommended a few years ago when I went to Cub Scout BALOO training. I am not a "knot person". I can watch someone do a knot and repeat it, but an hour later it is forgotten.
My plan is to get all of the Scouts of the same rank together at one time and give them some encouragement. I'll give each of them an advancement goals sheet to fill out.
Just because it has turned bitter cold outside this week doesn't mean that Cub Scouts can't stay active. Encourage your Cub Scouts to earn their basketball beltloop this month. If they are on a team, they have almost earned it already.
Boy Scouts are required to participate service projects for Second Class, Star, and Life. Our troop encourages all Scouts to participate in service projects whether they need the hours or not.
This is a simple game which works in well with a holiday themed meeting. It only requires a few materials and not much preparation, which makes it ideal in my mind. And it works indoors.
