BSA National has announced a new plan that will feature standardized websites for all local councils . According to the December 3 press release, BSA has partnered with Sitecore Corporation and mindSHIFT Technologies Inc. for development of a Content Management System that will eventually operate across all BSA national and council websites.

Every Cub Scout leader should be trained. It is hard to put on an effective Cub Scout program without trained leaders. As soon as a new Cub Scout leader is registered, he or she should take online Fast Start Training .
Most packs fall into one of two categories: Once-a-Month-Together (OMT) Packs. OMT packs have den meeting schedules and locations which are independent of each other. A Webelos den may meet every Monday afternoon from 4-5 p.m. at the den leader's house while a Wolf den meets every Thursday evening from 6-7 p.m.

BSA Innovation Engine is a cool new website from BSA National. It is a forum for ideas and suggestions on how to improve BSA programs and operations . Those who participate can make suggestions and also can vote "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" on the posted ideas.
We had our fall Pack 19 campout this weekend. I think it went very well. We stayed at Devil's Den State Park . This was our third pack overnighter, and it was our largest camping group yet . We had about 20 Cub Scout families camping with us Friday night.

BSA National has announced recently that it is planning to launch a " MySpace-type social network site … that will allow Scouts, volunteers and alumni to connect and share stories ." (See this ( link ) August 12, 2008 Dallas Morning News article.) It appears that the new online service in beta is up and running .

This past week was a great one for Pack 19. Last Saturday, we hiked a two-mile trail in the Ouachita National Forest . The trial connects the Old Military Road picnic area to Talimena State Park , near Talihena, Oklahoma. We hiked the two-mile trail to the state park where we ate sack lunches.
It's great to be a volunteer for scouting or other worthwhile organizations. But sometimes volunteering to do something that you can't do well or adequately can actually be worse than not volunteering at all. The best thing to do when you are approached with another volunteer task, project, or position may be to say "no."
