I have changed roles within Voyageur District here in the Bay-Lakes Council. Commissioner Keith Comments: The Falling Eagles : "I know four scouts, all of which have earned the rank of Life Scout, and have the potential to become Eagle Scouts. One scout has completed ..."
2 Vote On Idea There are some listing mistakes online for Commissioner service. The Commissioner Manuals listing on scouting.org/commissioners has incorrect item numbers for the following manuals: Commissioner Fieldbook for Unit Service and Commissioner Helps for Packs, Troops, and Crews.
Recently, I stepped down as an Assistant Commissioner and while being away from that part of the scouting program, I have found that several scouting friends and acquaintences do still approach me for counsel and advice on issues that they have within their respective units.
About mid February, I registered a URL for my district UC service and a toy for me. I wanted to see how google apps and sites tied together and how best to use it. You can get an awesome front end view from the Scouting units that have come to use Google apps.
2 Vote On Idea receiving several comments about issues logging on and reporting, below is a cut and paste from a e-mail from one of my ADC's. seems to be a consistent issue: I want to report more Unit Commissioner Report MyScouting web site problems.
-1 Vote On Idea I put this idea together from "Merit Badges and Scoutmasters" as well as from the comments posted in that idea then inserted some information from my past experiences and slammed them all together and am putting out two ideas; this one and one on Merit Badge Policy – Education & Actions / Possible Template.
2 Vote On Idea At our staff planning conference we discussed how to encourage better performance of commissioners. When reviewing the award criteria for Commissioners we noticed that they were not really supporting the requirements for Quality District and Council.
Scout Leader Wins $25,000 On His Way To Roundtable
The Daily Journal has the perfect story for promoting your District's Roundtable training: Kregor, a leader of Boy Scout Troop 300 in Kankakee, and fellow leader Ryan Barrie, stopped at the McDonald's on Oct. 8 before a monthly Scout leaders' roundtable meeting at Wilmington.
3 Vote On Idea The commissioner tracking system is a good idea, but it really only goes half-way as to how effective it could be. Can we turn it into a one stop unit status reporting system that the commissioners can use in making their monthly reports?
Unit Visit Tracking System - Top Down Focus ability
1 Vote On Idea All council or district commissioners to add a focus to the unit commissioners focus. To be viewed by all Unit Commissioners. Comments (0) District and Council Operations , commissioners
Need correction to ScoutNet when assigning Unit Commissioners
1 Vote On Idea There is a problem when there are two or more unit commissioners in a Council with the same first and last name. When the district executive goes in to assign the unit commissioner and the above situation exists, the drop down box which comes up for the district executivce shows only…
According to one of our comment posters, the 2009-2010 Roundtable Planning Guide has this announcement about the end of monthly themes : "New for 2010-2011: Begining in September 2010 and the 2010-2011 program year , the method of presenting Cub Scout den and pack meetings will undergo exciting enhancements with big benefits for boys, den leaders, and…
Bill Smith Roundtable Site Before Being Hacked Bill Smith is a lifelong Cub Scouter who has put together a great online resource – "Bill Smith's Unofficial Cub Scout Roundtable." 0 Vote On Idea Unit Commissioners should have the ability to print out a unit roster in order to do an Inventory Check when they visit their units. Roster should only include registered individuals name and position within the unit. Comments (0) Retention
2 Vote On Idea There needs to be a more efficient way of updating Commissioner assignments for Unit Visit Tracking. It should be done through the person profile instead of the unit maintenance. Pulling up each unit is very time consuming.
1 Vote On Idea Allow Council Commissioner, District Commissioners and Round Table Commissioners make updates to the status of a unit on the Unit Visit Website. Comments (0) District and Council Operations (11)
I was in a chat room and the topic of training came up, it wasn't the normal every boy deserves a trained leader vs untrained leader vs how to get people trained. The discussion was how can we afford to get trained?
5 Vote On Idea The Scoutnet-populated Unit Roster should be changed to include the Unit Commissioner. If there is not a Unit Commissioner, a field saying "No Commissioner" or something similar should be in place. --- Every year local councils are required to prepare a unit roster that includes members and adult leaders after rechartering or…
0 Vote On Idea Needs to allow District Commissioners, ADSC's and District Executives to enter "visit" info for all units in their Districts. Comments (1) Category/Tags : District and Council Operations (4) Mark as duplicate
1 Vote On Idea Professionals, ADCs and District Commissioners need to have access to the unit visit comments without having to export to an excel document. It is very cumbersome. It would be best if there was a link to a pop-up window at the end of the visit line.
Well, I did it...now I have 2 shows, but it will actually be 3, as this show is a two-part show. The topic for the show is Webelos to Scout Transition, but I had some help, with my good friends Commissioner Keith and Scoutmaster Jerry....we went so long that I made it into 2 shows…
3 Vote On Idea This suggestion is both technological and cultural. For decades, Charter Renewal has been the time for units to fill gaps in their leadership and register new adult leaders. But many years have now passed since background checks of volunteers has become part of Scouting.
As you may see, I have a new blog logo...not that my hand was forced, but I had to do what is right. The District Commissioner called a meeting and decided that he no longer wanted me on staff, a move that was unfounded and a personal attack on yours truly.
Here is show number 3... I talk about the history of the Unit Commissioner and have a recorded interview with my friend, Keith, who is an Assistant District Commissioner. You can listen by clicking here Sorry about the sound quality, still working out the bugs
According to the Fall / Winter 2008 edition of the The Commissioner , based on the new Boy Scout Centennial Uniform design, it has been approved for the Commissioner Arrowhead Honor emblem to be worn on the left sleeve of the Commissioner's uniform immediately below the Council Strip.
Hello fellow Scouters, Should you bother with leader recognition knots? Do they add any value to your Scouting program? Isn't it really about the boys, not us leaders? I hear these questions a lot when I discuss leader recognition. I say it does matter!
