Our Alps Mountaineering tents have nice vestibules and do a great job of keeping out rain, but only when properly set up and when gear is stowed. As you can see, that's not the case every time. How does a scout leave his uniform shirt laying in the mud out in the rain?
And in the blink of an eye they grow. Ok folks get ready for this.. a NON SCOUTING POST … Tonight we sat down with a photographer to set up appointments, packages, and wardrobe for my daughters Senior Portraits. Senior Portraits..
Dutch oven cooking is worth the trouble. Truth be told it's not actually all that much trouble either! Here's a great introduction to dutch oven cooking in three parts. It is as easy as it looks; use simple recipes, don't get too overwrought and you'll have some great eating.
Requirement 6 for the Webelos Forester activity badge is "Make a poster showing a tree's growth rings or examine the growth rings of a tree stump. Explain how the rings tell its life history."

Scouts are interesting creatures. I think of three kinds of scouts. First off are the Over Achievers. Probably destined for middle management in corporate America, they organize everything, plan to the minute detail, take their roles seriously, and love directing others.
The day began as we loaded the van at 8:00 am and set off for our first destination in West Virginia. We had three pick-ups to make before everyone had joined us. The third and final pick-up was at the location of a scout shop, the last chance to stock up on scouting essentials.
Leaving in a few minutes for the second week at Many Point Scout Camp. The troop is large enough that we have a dozen guys in soccer and baseball that could not go with the troop a couple weeks ago - enough for a second week!
Today, in a little over 2 hours from now, I will be on my way to Bear Paw Scout Camp…a first for me, the Scouts and for my troop. We are a relatively new troop, signing our charter on February 3rd, 2010.
