Just wanted to let you all know that I'm still alive and haven't givebn up blogging or anything like that. I have just been extremely busy lately with a lot of things in school and such that I just haven't had the time to just sit and write.
With my Order of the Arrow fellowship this past weekend I thought I'd talk about how it went and what the OA is about. Ok so first a little background on my involvement in the OA. I was elected by my troop at summer camp last year and had my call-out later that week.

This week's video is another one from the BSA's commercials that emphasize the points of the scout law. This one is about the socut law helpful. Old lady's will never cross the road the same again. Enjoy!
A relative o' mine sent me somethin' very interestin' related t' th' BSA's Centennial, to be sure. It's a BSA One Hundredth anniversary bill. These bills have a picture o' Baden Powell on th' front and th' scout oath and law on th' back.

This week's video is another commercial that was made by the BSA to feature the points of the scout law in a comical way, this video features the scout law Trustworthy. Enjoy!
Well today yesterday tues. was the first day of my sophomore year. (as you can see by the strikeout's it took me awhile to get this post written because of back-to-school things) With the start of the school year that means that for me troop meetings will start back up again and we'll begin planning…
Many of you have probably seen Scout Camp the Movie by now and for those who haven't you definitely should, it's great. With that said this video should remind you of all the fun times you hopefully had at camp this summer. Enjoy!
I recently picked up the most recent issue of Backpacker magazine . As I started reading the cover I noticed a title right above the magazine title, " Are you smarter than a Boy Scout?" Of course I immediately found the article and began reading it.

As many people know it is popcorn season in the scouting world (at least in the American part of the scouting world anyways). This year's popcorn season brings about a couple of changes to Trails End's product line-up; for one they have discontinued the Chocolate Caramel Corn (which I really liked).
This week's video is from a series of videos that were made by the BSA symbolizing points of the scout law. This video is about the law helpful. Enjoy!
So for this video of the week I decided to dig deep into Scoutmaster Steve's youtube channel for a good scouting video. The video I found is the classic star trekking song that Troop 68 performed on a local television's Christmas program. Enjoy!
So with the BSA's 100th aniversary we have a new handbook that will bring us well into the 21st century. This new handbook has alot of great information and it is a great resource that every scout and scouter should have on their bookshelves.
Welcome to another edition of the Gear Head Friday! This Friday we will discuss how to plan your gear and how you organize and take stock at home. For many people a gear list is essential to packing correctly for any trip.
As has been talked about on the BSA Innovation Engine and on many sites online the BSA has decided to pilot a new field uniform made by Under Armour. The reason for this is so that the program's uniform ill appeal to kids who are embarrassed to be seen in the traditional scout uniform.
Welcome to this week's edition of Gear Head Friday! This week's topic is camp lighting, proper lighting is very important for any camping trip. Whether your light is a candle or a headlamp proper light is essential. So lets dive into the different types of lights, the costs, and the effectiveness.
Well, after starting the cool gear series a few weeks ago and quickly running out of ideas I've decided to rename it to Gear Head Fridays. This new series will still have gear reviews but it will also have informative posts on stoves, backpacks and other gear and outdoors related things.
I saw this video and decided I just had to share it.
So I'm back from camp and (mostly) everthings back in order so I thought I'd take some to tell you all about my week at camp. If you have read my summer camp post from before http://boyscoutblog.wsr3.net/2009/06/25/summer-camp-2/ you know what a typical week at camp is for me and my troop.
I got back from camp saturday and I've been taking the last few days to get re-organized and catch up on my sleep. But, not to worry, my summer camp recap posts will be coming in the next few days.
Well, I'm certainly not off to see a wizard and I won't be following any yellow-brick road but I am off to summer camp so there won't be any new posts this week, but I'll be sure to tell you all abut camp when I get back. Bye!
On this day let us remember those who have given to our country in the greatest way, by fighting for our freedom in any wars including the world wars, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, and most recently in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
For this week's Cool Gear post I'm going to tell you about a great little lantern that I have. This lantern is the Black Diamond Orbit and it is really a great little thing to have. This lantern stands at only 5.5 inches high when fuly extended and is only 4 inches high when collapsed.
